When comparing award and revenue tickets to determine the miles value, don’t forget to compare fairly. Meaning that you exclude the taxes (you still need to pay those for an award), and, that you compare to the right fare type - Flex. Award redemptions can be cancelled for almost free, and changed for free - so they should not be compared to the cheapest Basic or Light ticket price.

It goes without saying that the comparison is made on equal terms: flex for flex, and taxes into account. But the point here is purely the redemption value, and we're aiming to highlight this point and potentially help the passengers choose wisely.

Thank you very much for your comment, we do appreciate ll sorts of feedback!

Very informative article, and knowing the (potential?) value of your miles is a very important part of the miles and points game! So great idea sharing that with the greater community! :-)

Exactly as you said It: potential value. It's all about this in the end, and the decisions one makes when it comes to redemptions.

Thank you so much for your kind words!
